An one-day Minara workshop intensive
FOUNDATIONS OF THE DEEN
Islam, Iman, & Ihsan

Taught by
IMAM ZAID SHAKIR
USTADH ABDULLAH ALI

March 31st, 2007
at Masjid at-Taqwa, Brooklyn, NY

DESCRIPTION
Oftentimes in the confusion of our daily lives and in the face of the continuous series of crises that face Muslims here in the West, we lose sight of the the basic teachings of Islam and the lofty objectives those teachings were instituted to accomplish--both in the lives of individual human beings and in human societies.

This one-day intensive program is designed to refocus our attention on those basic teachings and the objectives associated with them. Imam Zaid Shakir and Shaykh Abdullah Ali will guide the participants on an in-depth examination of Islam, Iman, and Ihsan in an effort to link these fundamentals of Islam with their noble and lofty objectives. Hopefully, all participants will leave the program with a renewed focus on what exactly Islam, God's final religion, is all about.

Imam Zaid Shakir is amongst the most respected and influential Islamic scholars in the West.  A graduate of Syria's prestigious Abu Noor University, he has studied with renowned scholars in Syria, Egypt, and Morocco.  He has translated and published several traditional texts and lectures frequently at conferences and workshops around North America.  He is currently a scholar-in-residence at Zaytuna Institute. (Click here for a full bio.)

Ustadh Abdullah Ali is the only American to attend and graduate from the University of Al-Qarawiyyin's Faculty of Shari'ah in Fez, Morocco. Abdullah has also studied traditionally with some of the top scholars of Morocco and other notable scholars in North America. He works as a chaplain in the Pennsylvania prison system, has participated and conducted many seminars, lectures, and classes at mosques and universities in the Philadelphia and East Coast region, and translated several traditional Islamic texts. ( Click here for a full bio.)
